The NZPI / Reginald Hammond Scholarship is awarded to students in their final year of study for an accredited planning degree (NZ).


This year’s winner is:

    • Yasmin Kidd



    Yasmin holds a student membership with NZPI and is currently in her final year of study for the Bachelor of Urban Planning at the University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau.

    She is an aspiring urban planner and believes in an equitable, resilient future; striving towards climate justice and climate-resilient cities and towns through nature-based solutions, māturanga Māori, community engagement and creativity.

    Yasmin distinguished herself as an exceptional student in urban planning, with her referee noting;

    “Her work, characterised by a deep understanding of urban planning principles and an innovative approach to climate change adaptation and justice reflects her potential as a future leader in this field. Yasmin seamlessly transitioned the theoretical knowledge she acquired in the classroom to her real-world endeavors in climate change. Her commitment to climate justice is particularly exemplified in her significant contributions to Generation Zero's impactful project, reflecting a profound integration of academic learning with practical application in environmental advocacy.”
