Every year NZPI / Te Kōkiringa Taumata acknowledge planners who are making a significant contribution to our profession and continue to do so year on year. In 2023 we’ve recognised the impressive work of five members at events across the country, celebrated this week in conjunction with World Town Planning Day.
The Distinguished Service Award acknowledges four categories of excellence; a significant contribution by a member over many years to the practice of planning; research that advances the theory and practice of planning; national or international recognition of a member as a leader in the planning profession; or a major contribution to the affairs of the Institute.
This year NZPI saw a number of high calibre nominations, and as a profession we’re honoured to have these members who continue to contribute so richly to planning in Aotearoa. These five members were all nominated by their peers and were unequivocally supported by the Awards Committee in being awarded Distinguished Service Awards.
