We’re entering the final third of the year and we know it’s been a very busy time for many of you. If you’re wondering how your NZPI CPD is tracking for 2023, simply log into your profile to review the activities you’ve attended throughout the year.

You can also find information on our CPD Requirements page. If you’re falling short, we’d like to help you with your annual CPD requirements by identifying some upcoming opportunities to earn points and grow your knowledge.

Why not consider some of the following:

  • Attend a workshop offered by NZPI. We have several coming up, offered online and in person across the country. View our CPD prospectus and make a plan.
  • Join the 2023 Conference On-Demand hub. This is your last chance to view every presentation shared at our 2023 Conference, earning 25 points! Only available until 31st September (after this date recordings will not be accessible anywhere else). Click here to take a look at what’s inside.
  • Register for the Environmental Compliance Conference. Coming soon on 1-3 November.
  • Browse Planning on Demand for CPD Opportunities that can be completed online at a time and place that suits you.
  • Attend an event hosted by your Local Branch or a Special Interest Group, which are regularly updated on NZPI’s events calendar.
  • Read resources in the NZPI document library, where you’ll find conference presentations, policy positions, submissions, and other reports.

World Town Planning Day happens every year on November 8. This year the American Planning Association will be hosting a WTPD virtual conference with a theme of Learning from Planners Around the World, full details here.

NZPI will also be celebrating World Town Planning Day, as well as a number of events hosted by your local branches. This is a great opportunity to recognise and promote the role of planning in creating liveable communities and by attending many of the events on offer you can obtain CPD points that count towards the annual total. Further information on local WTPD events will be available on our website late October.

It is important that you log into your NZPI profile and review any activities that have been recorded, making sure that the records match any programmes that you have participated in. Don’t forget to also record any activities and learning opportunities that may be external to NZPI. Guidance about what activities can be claimed as CPD or which category best suits can be found here.

All activities must be entered by 31 December for the CPD audit commencing in the new year. If you have a CPD point shortfall or need further clarification on the requirements, be sure to get in touch with the CPD team - CPD@planning.org.nz
