Ōtautahi / Christchurch will be host to the upcoming Environmental Compliance Conference on 6-8th of December, and the city will welcome us again for our NZPI conference in April. Christchurch is a city that has risen up to the challenges over the past decade and has regenerated back into a lively and vibrant place to stay.  Here’s why you should come and visit ...

What’s hot for planners in Christchurch?

Trees. As the garden city has risen again there’s much talk about new developments not delivering enough trees to provide the tree canopy that the city needs. Come and see the progress.

Sailing. Sail GP is coming to Christchurch in March and sailing enthusiasts are abuzz. A fan zone will be in place outside the newly completed Te Pae Convention centre.

Transformation Projects to name a few; Naval Point Redevelopment, the rejuvenation of Te Kaha’s surrounding streets and public realm, developing gravel carparks and filling in the Dirty 30.

Housing Density. The city is seeking a bespoke approach to housing intensification.

Where to explore?

From the delightful tramways on colourful New Regent Street to the Riverside Markets, there’s plenty to see. Christchurch is known for its post-quake pop up cafés and Miro has become a permanent institution. After dark the city’s visitors are spoilt for choice with the terraces and rooftop bars, and the burgers served up at Smash Palace are not to be missed.

Inspirational Speakers, Networking and Professional Development

EC Conference

The upcoming Environmental Compliance Conference will include two days of keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and a much-anticipated field trip to the Christchurch Cathedral. The heritage listed Christchurch town hall will welcome delegates to enjoy their award-winning restoration of this Warren and Mahoney 1970’s building. The venue will also host a gala dinner, featuring Jerome Partington (Associate Principal and Sustainability Manager at Jasmax) as guest speaker. We’re expecting over 250 compliance and monitoring specialists to come together next month and it’s not too late for last minute registrations.
