The RM reform position papers are ready!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to those in our profession for helping us prepare for the release of the new Bills (Natural and Built Environments Bill and Spatial Planning Bill), which will provide a new legislative framework for planning in New Zealand.  It’s great timing as we await today’s 1pm announcement.

The set of position papers sit under four headings:

These papers were presented to the NZPI/ Te Kōkiringa Taumata Board for approval this week, reflecting the NZPI position on what we’ve so far understood to be key aspects of RM Reform.

The position papers would not be what they are without thought leading contributions from our members who have been actively thinking about the key issues for implementation and practice. We’d like to thank everyone who responded to a member survey, attended a discussion group, asked questions during our RM reform webinars, or provided direct feedback to NZPI. The RM Advisory group include current and former Board members and representatives from each of our special interest groups. The group have prepared these papers to reflect a balanced position from our membership and from the wider profession.

These position papers have been made available so you can clearly see NZPI’s position, and to give you the opportunity to prepare your own submissions and submissions for your clients. We believe we’re in a good position to respond to the next announcement from Government and be fully engaged in the change we see ahead.
