Debbie is a registered NZILA Landscape Architect with 25 years’ experience. She is panellist on the Christchurch City Council Urban Design panel and manager of te Taiao Portfolio for Ōnuku Rūnanga. Within her role for the Matapopore, her professional expertise, combined with experience working at rūnanga level on a wide range of environmental issues brings a very considered, holistic approach to her work which ensures the day to day management of Matapopore as well as demonstrates how Māori values and traditional knowledge can be expressed within the built environment.

Weaving a new korowai for Ōtautahi

Matapopore Trustees Lynne Te Aika and General Manager, Debbie Tikao will present on the process they have undertaken to weave Ngāi Tūāhuriri / Ngāi Tahu identity and values into the urban fabric of Ōtautahi. They will show case some of the projects which have contributed to shaping a more vibrant and meaningful environment - a city that expresses our shared histories and Treaty partnership and which bring to life the stories of mana whenua.
