NZPI SPECIAL VIRTUAL EVENT | A Digital Future

Matt Ensor

Business Director in Community Shaping, Beca

Matt has worked at Beca for 27 years. He is focussed on how to improve community equity by being able to engage and hear from parts of the community that are traditionally hard to reach. Matt sees the future of online engagement and consultation being conversational, not online forms, and in 2020 Matt founded FranklyAITM which is a technology startup with the mission of “No voice left behind”. Frankly is a conversational agent (not yet sentient!) that provides culturally appropriate online conversations, including in authentic Te Reo Māori, when it’s not practical to meet face to face. Matt has spent most of his life in Tāmaki Makaurau, and enjoys coffee, reading about technology and being a Dad to Delta and Pippa.

Presenting:

What’s practical and happening now.

Thursday 1st September, 2:00Pm (40 mins including Q&A)

Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence are sweeping through professions, providing different opportunities in each. The potential in Planning appears to be positive and transformational, with these tools contributing new ways to consider qualitative aspects and enhance equity outcomes. Matt will talk about the benefits of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence for large scale engagement and provide examples of how these technologies are already starting to change the way we can address traditional challenges.
