2022 NZPI CONFERENCE PRESENTATION

Plan Design in Partnership

An iwi perspective

SESSION: Thursday 10th March, 2:30pm - 3:30pm
PRESENTED BY:
Lisa Mackenzie & Tanya Stevens

Planning in an Aotearoa context - what does true partnership in planning look like? Is this the way of the future, or does it have the potential to become a tick-box exercise?

How should the unique context of Aotearoa New Zealand, including Te Tiriti o Waitangi, affect our approach to plan making?

Lisa and Tanya will explore these issues, and also their own experiences and thinking into how to make partnership work within the context of Te Tiriti. They will look at the potential benefits of co-design of plans for both iwi and Council, and examples of partnership in action.

Kōrero/discussion to wānanga/workshop issues with attendees and available mana whenua will enable participants to delve into the concept of partnership in plan design further
