Te Kokiringa Taumata | New Zealand Planning Institute invites you to join us at 4pm next Thursday for an insightful and thought-provoking panel discussion on;
Building Resilience into Cities
'If we are to make our places of living more resilient to these temporary intrusions, we must not only be able to respond to conditions quickly when they arise but use the skills of overlay design when we are planning new places. Resilient planning can no longer be just a single situation master plan, but must demonstrate how reasonable occasional events, particular to specific places, can be planned for in readiness.'
Each panellist will provide their opinion on the topic followed by 25 minutes of Q&A.
Panellists:
Prof Bruce Glavovic; Massey University; School of People, Environment and Planning; Bruce’s research centres on the role of governance in building resilient and sustainable communities. His focus is on coastal communities and the role of environmental planning, reflexive and deliberative praxis, and conflict resolution in bridging science-policy-practice interfaces to reduce disaster risk and build resilience and sustainability.
